Henri Cartier-Bresson - Life and Career

I invite you to visit the exhibition  HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON – WATCH! WATCH! WATCH!  at the  Foto Arsenal Wien.  We follow his life from his youth, through his formative years before becoming a photographer, traveling widely to countries such as China, India, Russia, Cuba, and cofounding Magnum Photos. He distrusted fame and resisted being pinned down by labels. After decades of pioneering photojournalism, he walked away from it in the 1970s to return to painting and drawing, another unconventional move.

He pioneered the genre of street photography and coined the term "decisive moment" as the essence of the very best pictures.  Using Leica M Cameras, mainly with 50mm and 35 mm lenses, and an occasional 90mm lens on black and white film is another characteristic of his focused approach. But there is more...

In addition, you are invited to reflect on your life and career, drawing inspiration from Cartier-Bresson's life.
